This is Aemyn

As long as you’re curious there will always be depths to explore.

I started making music when I was 13 on an old laptop and absolutely fell in love with exploration and experimentation. I’ve always messed with whatever fascinations I feel drawn to in my creativity. I learnt guitar to play along to my favourite pop punk tracks and ended up naively composing symphonies, noisy electronic tracks, penning bars like my favourite rappers, painting vivid stories like the folk singers, rocking heavy metal riffs, or writing gentle piano.

That self-cultivated excitement has taken me through so many different styles, which come through as an eclectic mix of genres that sometimes converge together, and usually mean I’m perceived completely differently depending who you ask, but I’m not interested in being laser-focused unless it’s for a specific band or project — so whatever music I made under the name Aemyn, it’s all me.

What I’ve found is the context and tools I create with shapes my music sonically and emotionally. I spent so long on my computer alone in my bedroom, now I use an iPad and smartphone wherever I am, the train or the forest, or with friends. As long as you’re curious there will always be depths to explore in whatever you make your music with. I spread the message to anyone who will listen, use what you have, embrace the limitations and find a way to tell your story. You already have everything you need.

Something I really want to instill in my art & the way I talk about it is a universal truth that every existence is precious, every story vital, every person deserves care and compassion. The human experience is a strange thing and I’d like to invite you to face it with vulnerability and passion, to walk forwards into what you truly desire. Permission to live — to really live. Something I’m always learning how to express fully, but that’s the journey.
